Miss Laurie Lehner is a singer songwriter and political satirist from New York living in New Orleans. As a Long Island native, Laurie has always loved the city of New York and straight out of high school her first employment was at The Palace Theatre on 47th & Broadway, right in the heart of Times Square. Laurie attended college and theatre conservatory in Manhattan, while working for several Broadway musicals.
Miss Lehner discovered an affinity for songwriting while living in Hell's Kitchen and after a chance meeting on the Upper West Side with movie star Keanu Reeves, Laurie decided to document the event in KEANU, a comedic song professing a newfound endearment for the actor.
Laurie soon began taking her original songs to open mics around the city. She attended, and eventually hosted, a weekly open mic night of her own in Astoria, Queens where she crossed paths with another local performer, Scott Bradlee, who would later form the popular music group, Postmodern Jukebox. Laurie collaborated with Scott to perform a show and record a few of the Top 40 pop/rock "mash-up" medleys he arranged.
Miss Lehner soon after turned much of her creative focus toward politics and began making comedy music videos for Twitter and YouTube. Starting as a therapeutic form of personal entertainment and public resistance, her videos were embraced by the online community where her politically critical, joke-packed parody songs were twice featured on the Funny or Die .com community homepage. Well known comedians, actors, musicians, politicians and journalists worldwide number among her followers and have shared her parody songs on Twitter. Miss Laurie Lehner's account @AndTheBandAides had exceeded 20,000 followers at the height of the social media site's popularity and collectively across all platforms her music videos have topped a million views.
In August of 2019, Miss Laurie Lehner was delighted to support Emmy-nominated political parodist Randy Rainbow at Randy Rainbow LIVE! with an after-show set performing her original parody songs in the VIP lounge at The Fillmore New Orleans.
In 2020, Laurie was featured in the November election edition of Offbeat Magazine; "The Right Kind of Viral— Singer Songwriter Miss Laurie Lehner's Popular Political Parody Videos"
At a rate of at least one new, self-produced video monthly, Lehner's YouTube had amassed around 60 unique parody songs dedicated to the state of American politics.
Most recently, Laurie Lehner has recorded a 4-song demo for the new musical comedy she is writing.
Miss Laurie Lehner's original music is on Spotify, Apple Music and all available platforms.
